First Geocaching Adventure

Today, Aaron and I completed our first Geocaching adventure. A friend of mine had blogged about doing it last summer and today as we contemplated what to do with our day off, we decided to give it a try. <<For those of you who do not know about Geocaching, it is basically a "treasure" hunting game. You use a GPS, Google map, or compass on your smart phone to locate a container that someone else has left. As I understand, each container will be different-- some contain puzzles and clues to locate the next pieces, some contain objects that you take and add to, some are found by riddles, some are found by maps.>> We did the "Quarter Exchange" Geocache in our town. This one was a Rubbermaid lunch container that contained a bag of quarters, a pen and notepad, and parts of a puzzle for another Geocache. We left a Nebraska quarter in it. It was fun to read the notepad and see the dates of people who have found it-- it went back to 2005! I had so much fun hiking with Aaron! We were introduced to a park we did not know existed. We got great exercise hiking the trails. We got to work together to solve a map. And it was beautiful outside today.

The rest of the day was fun, too. We would have slept in, but everything in the universe conspired against us-- the cat, falling off the window sill she was sleeping on in our room, a neighbor's car alarm at 7:30, someone calling Aaron at 7:35. Eesh. At least we got to enjoy a longer day off, I suppose. I gave myself a fun zebra print French manicure. We watched Super 8. We went to Olive Garden for a late lunch and to Yogurt Yetti for dessert.

What a perfect day!
